We are interested in quantum gravity, the problem of finding a unified theory of our universe that includes both quantum mechanics and general relativity. Our work focuses on the fascinating interplay between spacetime geometry, quantum information theory, and relativistic field theory. Key topics include quantum black holes and the information (firewall) paradox, holographic entropy bounds, modular flow, AdS/CFT, and the fundamental relation between energy and quantum information. We are also interested in cosmology and the string theory landscape.
Our research is supported by the National Science Foundation and by the Department of Energy. To help support our students, visitor program, and postdocs, please consider the giving opportunities to the Berkeley Center for Theoretical Physics.
